New Product Alert: Optimum OptiClean

Optimum Car Care recently released their waterless car wash spray Optimum OptiClean. I’ve been searching forever for a waterless car wash spray to replace Poorboy’s Spray & Wipe. Cost was the biggest issue, considering not many reliable safe waterless sprays are available on the market. OptiClean is dilutable in large sizes and it cleans interiors.

Spray & Wipe has truly been my most favorite product on the boutique market. Use it after rain storms to clean your car from the light dirt film. It’s probably the strongest cleaning quick detailer you can use since it uses waterless polymers to encapsulate all dirt.

Waterless Spray Quick Detailers applications include:

- cleaning your vehicle for light dirt

- drying aid for any missed dirt during the wash stage

- window cleaner that is ultra safe for tints

- clay lubrication (usable if more dilutable)

- wiping down sections in between polishing stages

Can’t wait for more views & Detailed Image to stock it.

Recent Work: Refresh Details & Griots Garage Polisher Review

After 4 sessions with the Griots Garage Polisher I’ve made a few observations:

- on/off button tab is real nice: instead of pushing forward and backward the movement is push forward for “on” and to turn off simply pushing down on the tab.

- speed dial is a bit tight when switching speeds. This is a good safe guard not to accidentally bump up speeds

- neck of the body is thin allowing easy movement & grasping. This reduces wear on your grip overtime

- head doesnt get extremely hot, if anything its a tiny bit lower heat then the PC at speed 6. This may vary by every individual, however I felt body heat was never an issue.

- matte black material of the polisher head is a bit annoying, as it could get dirty fast. otherwise nice gripping material.

- handle is mediocre due to its position, more for holding on vertical panels. I could myself just removing the handle and working the top & base of the polisher like my usual 7424 setup.

- due to the loud sound I actually felt the need to use my ear plugs.

- power is darn strong and out classes the PC7424. I found myself regulating between speeds 5 & 2 often during my short sessions.

- vibrations are slightly stronger, but not overbearing for me personally. it will not throb like the PC, but its bearable.

In summary: a definite upgrade that’s stronger, faster, louder. A polisher that gets the job done better than the PC.

Here is some recent work, mainly express/refresh details. 3 in 1 Day, new record:

On the Hub: Optimum’s New Polishes

If it isn’t obvious, I’m quite a fan of Optimum Car Care products. Something fresh about seeing products designed by Detailers for Detailers. You can argue they are one of the most innovative manufacturers to design products for prosumer/boutique/professional detailers. Here’s a snippet from Anthony @ Auto Concours Salon in Texas about the new designs. Let’s hope this new “Spray” polish system revolutionizes the detailing market.

Several years ago I had the pleasure of introducing many in the detailing world, both Pro and non-pro, to Optimum products, mainly the Optimum Spray Wax. It was not taken with great seriousness at first but after people tried it many of them came to love the ease of use, the great looks, UV protection, no staining and also the novelty of having wax in a spray-able form.

Well flash forward to today and I am once again given the honor of introducing to the detailing world what I believe to be the first ever spray-able polish and compound!

Many detailers around the world have come to love the Optimum Polish 1 and II formulas due to its long working times, low dust and ease of clean up plus its versatility when used with various pads and now once again Optimum Polish has evolved into the first spray-able polish now called Optimum Hyper Polish.

It has all the same characteristics we have all come to love and appreciate but it is now even easier to work with plus it has more cutting power with an added benefit of finishing off even nicer.

Optimum has also re-worked their compound into a spray-able form which removes 2000 grit sanding marks with ease and leaves an almost LSP ready finish on lighter colors. Optimum Hyper Compound, as well as Hyper Polish, work well with orbitals but they have been designed around rotary use and this is where they excel.

Because of their spray-able form it allows a thin even film of product to be applied to the paint which in turn provides the whole face of the buffing pad to come evenly in contact with the polishing medium thus creating a more evenly polished surface. This also means you’ll use less product while still having a buffing barrier between the paint and polishing pads.

Several new pads will round out the Optimum Paint Polishing system with new pads. The most unique is a blended silk-wool pad designed to work with the new Optimum spray-able products. Fast cutting, even cutting and very nice finishing down.

Ron and I along with Keven, have been testing and testing these new products for months now and we feel we have gotten the products tuned in to just where we want them.

The Optimum Finishing Polish at my request has also been tweaked and is now a perfect ending compliment to this new system.

Here is a picture of the new hyper Polish and Hyper Compound and also one of the new silk-wool pads……these pads are so sweet!

Here is Optimum Hyper Polish sprayed onto the side of a panel. Again the great advantage to this product is the ability to evenly coat the face of the pad which evenly distributes the abrasives.
